Honeywell Aerospace has just received FAA approval for the implementation of Mandarin into their EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System). The system helps pilots know of potential collisions by being an independent monitor of the aircraft’s position in relation to the immediate environment.

The approval means Honeywell will be the first company to use a language other than English for their alert systems, reports China Daily. It also means that it will help Chinese-speaking pilots tremendously, aiding them in recognising warnings, saving time during decisions and the efficiency of their work.
