After cancelling a radar contract with Panama, Leonardo-Finmeccanica’s subsidiary AgustaWestland has agreed to manufacture two AW139M military helicopters to compensate. The two helicopters will be military versions of AgustaWestland’s AW139 helicopters and will come to a cost of $15.5 million each. Both aircraft will be fitted with bullet-proof reinforcement and have twin engines. As well as manufacturing the two helicopters, AgustaWestland has agreed to an additional three years of providing pilot training and maintenance, reports UPI.
