A $1 billion joint venture between India and Russia was signed in 2015 and last year they had finalised the broad agreement, but are now halted waiting for the final presidential clearance. The JV between Hindustan Aeronautics and two Russian defence majors was created so that production of 200 Kamov 226T multi-role helicopters could be done in India. Vladimir Putin has yet to sign approval, which is pushing their original production plan behind schedule. They had hoped to roll out in 2021, reports India Times.
