Two new firefighting helicopters have been given to the National Parks and Wildlife Service. This gift was due to a $6.6 million state government funding increase. These helicopters will be used for carrying heavy loads as well as being used in difficult to reach areas. The National Park employees cover a range of 135,000 hectares, reports 9 News.
