The seven-year contract renewal is a reflection of RACQ CQ Rescue’s ongoing commitment to providing a highly efficient and world-class helicopter emergency medical service to the region, Rowan said. He continued: “This contract extension enables our organisation to continue to deliver on our commitment to provide excellent patient care and the very best aeromedical service to the community.”
RACQ CQ Rescue completed 573 missions in 2016, noted Rowan. The service provides rescue helicopter emergency medical services and search and rescue capabilities with two Bell 412 aircraft based in Mackay on behalf of the Queensland Government. The Babcock contract extension enables the community-funded organisation to provide 24/7, 365 days a year coverage, including a team of pilots, aircrew and engineers to deliver a complete package of critical operational support, Rowan said.
