Dunc Wassick, owner of Dam Helicopters, has used his company to help with EMS rescues in West Kootenay. Although Dam Helicopters specializes in mining, forestry, wildlife management, tourism flights, EMS as well as hydro power, Dunc has ensured that the helicopter is available to be called out for medical emergency services. He believes that the West Kootenay area deserves a dedicated EMS helicopter. Currently, British Columbia Emergency Health Services is responsible for that area, but Dunc comments that there is a lack of response for that area, reports Castlegar News.
