The Orange County Fire Authority are in a test period with their new technology that can save response time during a fire fighting operation. Together with Anaheim Fire and Rescue, they are field testing in Anaheim Hills. On top of a 1,700 gallon water tank, the Remotely Activated Snorkel Site opens the water valves to gain access to municipal water systems, all through remote controlled systems. This shortens the time between water drops as there is no need for crew to be on the ground to open the valves manually. Each system costs between $30,000 to $50,000 to install, reports Emergency Management.
