Incident summary – Oil exploration support helicopter went down, killing all on board.  Initial reports vary between 13 and 14 fatalities after initial reports of 9.  Some local news sources are saying it exploded in the air, 10 minutes from its destination.  The helicopter was supporting work by Perenco Peru, who issued a statement saying that apart from two crew there was one of their employees on board as well as others from three different contractors.

The flight manifest (according to this page) listed those on board as R. Euro-Asia Airlines Mi-8 reported missing and not found five days later.  The helicopter took off on November 24 at 08.30 to fly over the Ushara-Dostyk section of the Atasu – Alashankow oil pipeline - but did not land at Dostyk at 12.30 as expected - and crashed nr Dostyk.  The helicopter had significant damages with only the aft remaining intact. All five crew members and three passengers died in the helicopter crash.  Manifest:  Captain – Raul Khabibullin -/- Pilot – Nurlan Yessenaliyev -/- Flight mechanic – Vladimir Kim -/- Engineers – Konstantin Maksayev and Viktor Radomskiy -/- Accompanying persons - T. Three Mi-24 helicopters of a group of four ferrying from Uganda to Somalia impacted Mount Kenya in poor weather and in close formation - all three wrecks within 1km of each other approx 11,000ft above sea level.  This helicopter completely burnt out (photo), except the last part of the tail which revealed its serial AF-808.  All seven on board died - named as Capt. William Letti, Lt. Patrick Nahamya, 2nd Lt. Robert Mushabe, 2nd Lt. Nelson Mulumba, WO. David Kakube, Sgt. Mweshezi Rahumata and Sgt. Charles Lukwago.  Weather/Visibility was reportedly a factor.  The fourth helicopter, a Mi-8, continued to its intended destination

Three Mi-24 helicopters of a group of four ferrying from Uganda to Somalia impacted Mount Kenya in poor weather and in close formation - all three wrecks within 1km of each other approx 11,000ft above sea level.  This helicopter ended up in a 45 degree left bank situation in a wooded area (photo).  7 on board, all survived, but with serious injuries.  It also carries a yellow "3" on the nose and the AU titles for the work it was intended for in Somalia.  Pilot was Lt.Col Chris Kasaija.  Weather/Visibility was reportedly a factor.  The fourth helicopter, a Mi-8, continued to its intended destination

Two people hijacked the helicopter, forced the pilot to fly to a prison at gunpoint, and then hovered as a rope ladder was dropped town for prisoner Alexei Shestakov to escape.  Prison guards shot at the helicopter in an attempt to force it to land.  The aircraft was later found abandoned on the edge of Vologda.  The hijackers were named here as Tatyana Vazhalina, 35, and Alexander Rusakov, 36

Sudanese minister of agriculture, Abdel Halim al-Mutafi, has escaped death in a crash which killed three people. He  emerged almost unscathed from the mishap which took place in Sudan’s eastern state of Al-Qadarif, where an Mi-17 helicopter carrying him along with six of his aides and two Iranian investors caught fire during take-off.
