The much–delayed arrival of the police helicopter is now slated for January, the government’s Finance Committee heard on Friday.  Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony Ennis told the committee that the helicopter was expected to arrive sometime in January, 2010.

Royal Cayman Islands Police Service to finally receive EC135 in September

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) will be receiving a much-needed boost in the form of its long-awaited helicopter. The twin-engine Eurocopter model EC135-T1 police helicopter is scheduled to arrive on the Islands next month and will serve to bolster the work of the RCIPS.

Governor Stuart Jack asked the Auditor General Dan Duguay in September to undertake an investigation into the purchase of the helicopter. Mr. Duguay found that there was no clear documentation of what the required operational capabilities of the helicopter should be, and limited communication between the police and the Civil Aviation Authority about the helicopter.
