The police helicopter program jointly run by Costa Mesa and Newport Beach is on the chopping block at the request of two members of the Costa Mesa City Council. Councilmen Gary Monahan and Jim Righeimer are calling on the council to pull out of the Airborne Law Enforcement (ABLE) program to save money.
