Woman arrested for shining laser at Long Beach Police helicopter

A 34-year old Long Beach woman has been arrested for pointing lasers at Police and Sheriff helicopters while they conducted a search for suspects in an unrelated incident in January. Kelly Ann Smith has been charged with two felony counts of discharging a laser at an aircraft.

According to Lt. Richard Rocchi of the Long Beach Police Dept, it may not be too long before the unit receives two well-maintained used Eurocopter AS350B2 helicopters from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
