PHI Air Medical closes New Mexico EMS base

PHI Air Medical cited the poor economy as its reason for last week’s closure.  Former PHI paramedic Fernando Medina said some 13 employees at the base were notified that they were out of jobs.

Fourth EMS Heliport opened in New Mexico

State Department of Transportation project development engineer Richard Allison says the latest heliport in Cimarron and the other three were put into areas that had no airports for emergency medical evacuations.

Cannon AFB hangar contract awarded for CV-22 training facility

Big D Construction of Salt Lake City was awarded in late September a contract for the building of a 38,300 square foot, single story, single bay maintenance hangar at Cannon Air Force Base. Bids from 15 companies were received for the project but Big D’s winning proposal was at $10.8 million.

San Juan College to offer helicopter flight training degree

The college announced Tuesday a new partnership with Albuquerque-based Enchantment Helicopters that will allow students to earn an associate degree in helicopter technology beginning in January.  A new helicopter aviation program at San Juan College is set to take flight this spring.
