The WA Police have been given the green light to purchase a new helicopter. They currently have two aging helicopters, a BK117 and a Eurocopter AS365 N3 Dauphin. The Police and Road Safety Minister will announce the funding of the new $26.9 million helicopter on Tuesday, reports WA Today.
WA Police are currently discussing the possibility of purchasing a new police helicopter. This comes after the State Coroner, Ros Fogliani, recommended the police get a new helicopter after overseeing the six people for died during five police pursuit crashes. HNZ Group has recently received the first two of four Sikorsky S-92A Helibus helicopters from PHI. The two aircraft will be kept at Broome, Western Australia. The four helicopters will be leased from PHI for five years, starting in April, in support of Ichthys LNG Project, reports Aviation WA.
The development application to install a floating helipad on Perth’s Swan River has been approved by the Western Australia Department of Parks and Wildlife.
