TrueNorth Avionics, Inc., has introduced an advanced network audio interface (NAI) that enables helicopter passengers and crew to communicate via intercom through the aircraft’s audio panel, with the Sikorsky S-92 announced as the initial application. The new TrueNorth NAI, which is an enhanced, multicabin version of the system currently available on Sikorsky’s S-76 models, also provides optional interfaces for cabin paging and HF communications.
The TrueNorth NAI works with TrueNorth’s revolutionary Simphone¯ OpenCabinâ„¢ airborne telecommunications system, uses a suite of enterprise-level applications (‘apps’) to bring advanced voice and data-management capabilities to the S-76 and S-92. Introduced in 2009 at NBAA, the all-digital Simphone¯ OpenCabin system offers unlimited service life, built-in Wi-Fi and data routing, unmatched communications security and superior voice quality.
