Aerospace Filtration Systems, Inc. (AFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI) and a division of the Aerospace and Defense Group, has received a Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) for an Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) system for the Eurocopter AS350 series helicopters.  Included in this approval are the AS350B3 (Single Hydraulic), the AS350B2, AS350B1, AS350BA and AS350B.

Donaldson IBF-equipped AS350 helicopters can freely operate with no engine inlet imposed flight or gross weight restrictions.  The approved IBF Flight Manual Supplement allows operation to basic inlet and sand filter performance charts based on power check results.  The new approval includes all Turbomeca Arriel AS350 models with the exception of the AS350B3 with dual hydraulic systems, which utilizes the Donaldson EC130 configuration system.  Also included are Honeywell-powered models with Soloy or Heli-Lynx engine conversions.

The IBF system for the AS350 features an easily removed flat filter assembly with a 4,500 flight hour life and an integral bypass design, easily mounted on the existing cowl without troublesome alterations.  A filter maintenance aid allows for on-condition status checks between established cleaning intervals, eliminating unnecessary service.  No restrictions are imposed for flight in falling or blowing snow.  With more than 3,000 Donaldson IBF kits in service worldwide, AS350 users will realize significantly better engine protection and performance than that offered by traditional AS350 sand filters or inertial particle separators.

Providing the most comprehensive line of IBF solutions, Donaldson Aerospace & Defense is the industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance engine IBF systems for commercial and military propulsion systems. Through their Donaldson St. Louis location, AFS provides certified IBF solutions for the following:
•    AgustaWestland A119 Koala, AW119Ke and AW139
•    Bell 205A1, 206B, 407, 206L-3/4, 206L-1(C30), 429 and 430
