First accident of a Guimbal Cabri G2

First accident of a Guimbal Cabri G2

Monday was a sad day for French helicopter manufacturer Guimbal as they recorded the first accident of one of their Cabri G2 two-seaters  at Söllingen Airport in Germany.  More details here – the two occupants were not injured at all.

HeliHub.com has a very extensive Safety data section, often picking up data on accidents not widely reported.  Given the known helicopter safety data sources on the internet, we believe that we present the most complete record.

Cabri production has started at a slow but steady rate, with production #1009 already flying.  That said, #1001 is a flight test frame, and #1002 a ground test example, so we believe 7 have been delivered to date.  There is plenty of interest in the type, with two reported sold to Sweden and talk of a UK flying school having one or two on order.  At the recent Aero 2010 exhbition, an example bearing a Monaco registration was displayed.
