Trinity Helicopters announced today the introduction of new, more effective firefighting technology to the North. Trinity’s new fleet of Bell 407 helicopters dedicated to aerial firefighting will use the Absolute Fire Solutions’ product line, including its FAST Bucket and FASTtrack event logger, to make its fire suppression operations more effective. The sale is the first in a multiyear sale agreement which will see the entire fleet equipped with FAST technology.

The FAST Bucket incorporates a patented control system which distinguishes it from conventional bucket products by using the weight of the water or retardant to create and store hydraulic pressure for use in drop activation. This fundamental change has created new ultra-lightweight, low power features, including cockpit selectable automatic volume control (eliminating bucket cinching and “fixed-volume” fuel cycles), a gated drop capability which allows split drops on all sizes, and a line of simplified accessories that use the “weight of the water” concept to enhance performance.

“A lightweight bucket that incorporates cockpit volume control and multiple drops enables our pilots to apply more retardant on the fire more effectively, by increasing retardant loads as fuel is burned” says Rob Carroll, President of Trinity Helicopters. “Combining the increased performance with the ability of the FASTtrack system to log our drop locations and volumes and provide that valuable data to fire agencies exemplifies the kind of aggressive advances in service that Trinity wants to provide to its entire client base”.

“As a new player in the market, we have the luxury of choosing the most advanced, effective system for any application”, continues Carroll. “In these times, all government agencies are watching carefully where and how they spend their money and fire suppression is no exception. We saw the opportunity to deliver increased fire suppression efficiency and performance by introducing the FAST system. Adopting this type of new technology to deliver increased service and performance will continue to be a key strategy for us going forward.

Steve Matthews, President of Absolute Fire Solutions comments on the sale, “The agreement with Trinity continues our pattern of unique fleet upgrades. In Trinity’s case, we were able to provide stocking and support arrangements which will allow them to respond very quickly to any unforeseen demand, and which provides them with multi-year pricing stability through our distributor, DART Helicopter Services.
