Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation, announced today that its Electronics System Division received an order for a Sky Search-2000M® Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) from Sikorsky Aircraft. The MSSR will be installed at Sikorsky’s Stratford, CT airfield used to test and validate their vast array of rotary and fixed wing aircraft. The MSSR meets allstandards for civil aviation applications and has unique automatic self adaptive features that provide a new industry standard for lowering interrogation rates while maximizing accuracy and resolution performance in the dense air traffic environments of the Northeastern United States.
”We are honored to have been chosen by Sikorsky to upgrade their current secondary radar to the Telephonics Sky Search-2000M,” said Don Pastor, President of the Electronic Systems Division. “The MSSR provides Sikorsky the operational performance required to continuously monitor and safely control the skies around this high technology flight test airfield.”
The Sky Search-2000M is part of Telephonics’ AN/UPX-40, AN/UPX-43(V), AN/UPX-505(V) and AN/UPX-44 All-Mode family of IFF/MSSR Interrogators. This family shares a common modular design approach with multiple platforms that have been successfully deployed by military and civilian customers around the world. Deployed platforms include Airborne Early Warning, Rotary Wing, Fixed Wing, Ground Transportable, Ground Fixed, and Shipboard configurations.
