$25M contract awarded for Phase 3 of VMMT-204’s maintenance hangar at MCB Camp Lejeune

F&S Mechanical and Plumbing Services, Inc.*, Tyrone, Ga., is being awarded a $25,637,205 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of the Vertical Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 maintenance hangar, Phase 3, at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The work to be performed provides for the design and construction of a multi-story aircraft maintenance hangar addition, to provide hangar bay, shop space, flight line operations and maintenance functions. The hangar addition will join the existing aircraft parking apron, and will include a multi-story crew/equipment/administration area at the rear of the hangar bay. This project will include the demolition of Building AS-504. It will also provide for the demolition of the top portion of the existing Air Traffic Control Tower and extend it 20 feet higher. Work will be performed in Jacksonville, N.C., and is expected to be completed by Sep. 2013. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with eight proposals received. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (N40085-10-C-5340).
