With the installation of cabinetry and technician benches complete, the Avionics Services division of Soloy Aviation is fully ramped up and operating.

Headed by three of the Northwest region’s most experienced installation and repair technicians Soloy can now offer virtually any configuration or avionics package piston and turbine pilots can dream up.

Soloy’s Quality Assurance Manager, William Humburg, along with Don Hall and the father/son team of Pat and John Atchison have completed the necessary requirements to add Avionics Services to Soloy’s FAA repair station license. In addition Soloy has become a dealership and factory authorized facility for Garmin, Aspen Avionics and a distributorship for Aviall and Edmo.

Dave Stauffer, Soloy’s CEO expressed satisfaction in his company’s new offering. “Soloy’s greatest strength has been engineering the finest fixed wing and helicopter turbine conversions in the world. But with those conversions, configuring for new avionics is usually a necessity. It was being done by third party vendors for Soloy. Today, there is so much for owner/operators to gain from modern avionics technology it just made sense for Soloy to add complete avionics capacity in house.”

Finding the right talent was Soloy’s highest priority. “We actively recruited Don, Pat and John. These guys have the knowledge and the decades of experience that give Soloy customers the highest degree of confidence when it comes to their avionics needs. Their backgrounds include NASA, Boeing, the US Army and Sundstrand. That’s some pretty tough experience to beat. We’re glad to have them representing Soloy.”

Soloy’s addition adds a much needed top tier Avionics facility to the Northwest region which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. Soloy’s avionics and electrical expertise is currently being demonstrated in the development of a Law Enforcement surveillance version of its Soloy Mark II Rolls Royce turbine powered Cessna 206. The aircraft will be equipped with a full suite of modern cockpit avionics and will include exterior mounted observation cameras with day and night tracking capability and a 270 degree rotating observer’s station in the aircraft’s rear section.
