Russian operatory “Vertical-T” begins operations for USAID

Russian air company “Vertical-T” has begun air operations for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the annual contract. For many years USAID has been involved in Afghanistan’s rehabilitation and support programs to promote the country’s economic and social development.

Helicopters Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-8T of air company “Vertical-T” are taking part in the construction of Kajaki Dam Hydropower plant, providing power for 1,7 million residents of Helmand and Kandahar provinces. The dam is also intended for the irrigation in the Helmand River Valley.

Besides, the company’s helicopters are involved in road construction and repair throughout the country. The development of the transport infrastructure of Afghanistan is essential for free movement of people and goods. The company’s helicopters carry passengers, cargoes as well as make aerial photo coverage of the construction sites.

Air company “Vertical-T” activity in Afghanistan is Russia’s contribution to the efforts of the international community to stabilize the situation in the country, which is essential for increasing safety of the population and sustainable economic development.
