An unannounced new Sikorsky S76C++ was registered four weeks ago in the UK as G-PACO and has been operating from City Airport in Manchester, also known as Barton.

The registered owner of this helicopter with the UK CAA is Cardinal Helicopter Services (IOM) Ltd, with a private address given in the Isle of Man – an island of around 220 square miles in the Irish Sea between UK and Ireland, and indeed a Crown Dependency of the UK. The Isle of Man has its own aircraft register with the M prefix, as featured last week on HeliHub.com (see article here). Searching the internet by starting with the CAA register address and postal code brings up the company of Peel Media Group, part of the Peel Holdings based in Manchester UK, which ties us neatly to the fact that the helicopter is hangared and operating from Barton.

The facts here are corroborated by a number of sites on the internet including local private pilot John Maxwell who networks on Twitter under the name “MaxPilot”. On 16th October, he tweeted (here) “Well ! A new Sikorsky S76 joined the Barton Air Force today owned by our leader Mr Whittaker the CEO of Peel Holdings ! Good look to him eh”

Peel Holdings is a conglomerate of many companies operating in the following sectors – Advertising, Airports, Energy, Environmental Technology, Hotels, Industrial property, Land, Media, offices, Ports, Property development, Retail & Leisure, Residential and Water & Power. The Peel Group (35%) with its partner Vancouver Airport Services (65%) invest in Peel Airports Ltd which comprises Liverpool John Lennon Airport, City Airport Manchester and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and Durham Tees Valley Airport
