FAA training contract won by Leading Edge Aviation

Leading Edge Aviation (LEA), a Bend, Oregon based helicopter flight school, has been selected through the solicitation and award process to provide helicopter flight training to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Certification and Inspector Pilots. The contract was awarded based on Leading Edge Aviation’s high standards of performance in their flight training program.

“This contract is a result of our commitment to providing outstanding, comprehensive helicopter flight training.” commented Brad Fraley, President of Leading Edge Aviation. “We will be training FAA pilots in every aspect of helicopter flight, from primary through advanced. As a result of our outstanding performance record with students and our exemplary safety record, the FAA has chosen us to train their pilots. We’re very pleased to have been selected for this contract.”

Leading Edge Aviation will be providing Helicopter pilot training for Flight Standards Operational Inspectors and Aircraft Certification pilots employed by the FAA. The curriculum will include both ground and flight training in a variety of helicopters including Robinson R44 Raven II and Bell 206BIII helicopters, and will cover such subjects as instrument flight, turbine transition training, standard and emergency procedures.

Leading Edge Aviation operates a flight school in Bend, Oregon under FAA Part 141 and Part 61, and utilizes a fleet of Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters as well as 5 Bell 206 series helicopters. Training offered by Leading Edge Aviation includes courses for Private, Commercial, Instrument, Certified Flight Instructor, ATP, NVG Mountain and Long Line certifications. LEA offers these courses to individual students as well as to students utilizing their VA benefits, and offers a degree program through Central Oregon Community College.
