HFI scholarship deadline extended again – to Jan 21st

Helicopter Foundation International is pleased to announce that it is extending the deadline for submission of applications for all seven scholarship programs. HFI is offering these scholarships to answer the current and projected need for both qualified helicopter pilots and maintenance technicians, and to provide further training for safety managers and other professionals in the safety field.

  • Commercial Helicopter Rating Scholarship – In answer to the helicopter industry’s need for qualified Pilots, HFI is sponsoring up to four (4) $5,000 Commercial Helicopter Pilot scholarships.
  • Maintenance Technician Certificate Scholarship – In answer to the Helicopter Industry’s need for qualified helicopter maintenance technicians, HFI is sponsoring six (6) $2,500 Helicopter Maintenance Technician scholarships.
  • Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technician Scholarship – HFI is pleased to announce the 2011 Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Scholarship Award Program. This program was founded by Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) Technical Committee to promote the choice of helicopter maintenance as a career. There are seven (7) scholarships, each valued up to $1,600.
  • Michelle North Scholarship for Safety – This Scholarship is offered in memory of Michelle North, a well-known helicopter safety expert and educator and member of HAI’s Safety Committee for many years and also served as its
  • Chairman. This scholarship is valued not to exceed $3,000.
  • Baines Simmons Americas Effective Event Investigation Scholarship – The winner of this scholarship, valued at $1,350, will receive a three-day course designed to provide an organization with trained event investigators to support the development and sustainment of a Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Baines Simmons Americas Safety Management Systems for Leaders Scholarship – The winner of this scholarship, valued at $600, will receive a one-day management course designed to equip leaders to understand the compliance issues surrounding recent SMS regulations, gain latest thinking in building and integrating an effective SMS, enhance understanding of the business advantages of having an effective SMS and to develop an action plan for introducing an effective SMS.
  • Baines Simmons Americas Introduction to Safety Management Systems Scholarship – The winner of this scholarship, valued at $600, will receive a three-day course designed to equip personnel with the competencies necessary to construct and administer their organization’s SMS
  • in accordance with international standards.

Neatness, completeness and accuracy do count. Additional pages requested must be supplied. Be sure to carefully read the requirements for each scholarship before applying. The winner will be announced prior to Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) Technical Committee meeting held in conjunction with HELI-EXPO 2011, March 5-8, 2011, in Orlando, Florida. Winners are invited and encouraged to attend, at which time they will be introduced to the Committee. Additionally, scholarship winners will receive a full registration to HELI-EXPO 2011, and will also receive a ticket at the “Salute to Excellence” dinner, courtesy of HAI. Winner will be responsible for all attendant expenses for transportation, housing, etc.
