AgustaWestland has confirmed that it will be showcasing a life-size mock up of its new AW169 helicopter at Helitech 2011, which takes place at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, near Cambridge in the United Kingdom, from 27-29 September.

The AW169 is a multi-purpose, twin engine, light transport utility helicopter that has been developed to meet the current and anticipated stringent requirements of commercial and government operators worldwide. The AW169’s eco-friendly design benefits from extensive use of composite materials, advanced airframe aerodynamics, next generation navigation avionics and state-of-the-art systems. AgustaWestland sees a market potential for nearly 1,000 of these aircraft over the next 20 years – particularly for use in the search and rescue, emergency services, law enforcement and offshore transport markets.

Other major exhibitors showcasing products and services at the show include Sikorsky, Bell Helicopter Textron, Bristow Helicopters, Pratt & Whitney Canada and BLR Aerospace.

AgustaWestland and Eurocopter – two of the world’s largest OEM’s – are planning to locate 10 different classes of aircraft in the dedicated static display area. Specialists will be on hand to guide prospective customers through the benefits of each type of aircraft on display.

Helitech Exhibition Manager, Brandon Ward, said: “It is testament to Helitech’s popularity that our exhibitor base is increasing once again this year. We will welcome, for the first time, several exhibitors who are new to Duxford; these include Garmin, renowned for its navigation technology expertise, and Pergam Suisse which specialises in infrared and laser technology.”

Helitech’s exhibitors showcase a wide range of helicopter products, systems and services including engines and components, military systems, communications systems and maintenance and repair services, to name a few. To date – seven months out from show – 85 per cent of the floor space has already been booked. Organiser Reed Exhibitions expects that attendance figures in 2011 will be similar to 2009, when more than 4,000 visitors attended over the three days to visit the 214 exhibiting companies.
