Alamo Helicopter Tours, a San Antonio based helicopter tour company and flight school, today announced that it has been awarded a Part 135 Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Part 135 certificate allows Alamo Helicopter Tours to operate as an air taxi, providing transportation to and/or from any location in the United States.  Company owner and executive pilot, Randy Riggs, says the certification greatly expands the opportunities to serve area businesses and consumers.

“With our Part 135 certification, we are now the only helicopter company in San Antonio able to provide door to door air taxi service,” said Riggs, who has more than 30 years experience in the aviation industry.  “It greatly enhances our ability to service new and existing clients.  Our pilots can now quickly transport hunters from San Antonio to and from remote ranches and hunting leases; oil and gas executives to and from well sites in South Texas and elsewhere; officials with government agencies monitoring forest fires or surveying wildlife numbers; film crews to and from shoot locations; and news crews to distant sites for breaking news.  We can even whisk a bride and groom straight away from their wedding reception for a fast getaway to start their honeymoon.”

“So long as we have room to land one of our Robinson R44 helicopters and permission to do so, the sky really is the limit,” added Riggs.  “We will be working on a number of new multi-day helicopter tours around Texas where our guests will fly over incredible sites, stay in beautiful remote locations, and dine at fabulous restaurants around the state.”
