General aviation flights account for the highest number of helicopter accidents in the U.S. Striving to lower the rate of those accidents, the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) and HAI have joined forces to provide safety seminars tailored for general aviation helicopter instructors and pilots. The next is scheduled for Portland, Ore. on the evening of March 22.

HAI President Matt Zuccaro will welcome attendees and introduce the program, in which HAI Director of Safety Stan Rose will lead a discussion of risk factors that often lead to accidents or injuries for general aviation helicopter pilots and instructors. Also joining the discussion will be Terry Palmer of FlightSafety International and Fred Brisbois of Sikorsky Aircraft, both representing the International Helicopter Safety Team.

The evening seminar starts at 7 p.m. local time in the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower/Downtown Portland, 921 SW Sixth Avenue in Portland 503-226-1611. Register here.

At that hotel during the day on March 22 and 23, the FAAST and HAI will host meetings to solicit industry input on how they can refine the safety briefings that FAASTeam members provide to helicopter pilots at local events throughout the U.S. To learn more about those meetings, click here.
