The HELIMOVER MAX is a natural development of the existing HELIMOVER for Robinson R22, R44 and R66 helicopters. It offers the same robustness, build quality, design features and operation as the original Helimover, but will move at up to double the speed – approx 7 kph which is a fast walking pace. This increased speed, is designed for helicopter operators based at airports or other locations where 100 meter ground movements or more, on smooth surfaces, are regularly needed.
The HELIMOVER MAX will be available from June 2011, and orders are now being taken. The cost is £2895 + vat. A prototype was shown recently at the R66 Launch Party hosted by Heliair in the UK.
The original Helimover remains in production, renamed at the HELIMOVER CLASSIC. The cost is £2650 + vat.
Moving a helicopter over the ground at speed is not hazard free, and operators need to ensure that the surface is smooth enough to prevent extreme main rotor blade flexing. Approaching obstacles such as hangar walls at speed also carries risks, and a through understanding of stopping distances is mandatory! As with any piece of powerful machinery, the Helimover should be operated with caution.
