Air Methods Corporation announced the appointment of Chris Bassett as its new Director of Operations. Effective immediately, Mr. Bassett assumes responsibility for leading the company’s flight operations efforts to ensure aviation regulatory compliance and safe operations among the company’s 237 bases and 1,000 pilots. Mr. Bassett reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is based at the company’s headquarters in Denver.

Mr. Bassett joined the company in 2002 and brings a wealth of aviation and Air Methods experience to the position. Since 2006, he has served Air Methods as its Chief Pilot where he was instrumental in maintaining standardization within the company’s pilot training programs by overseeing the training department and its 75 training captains and 50 check airmen. Mr. Bassett was also influential in guiding the organization toward use of advanced aviation training devices to enhance the pilot training curriculum. Additionally, he worked as an Air Methods training captain, check airman, and pilot in command of various air ambulance helicopters. He has accumulated about 7,000 flight hours and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of Phoenix.
