The US Army has slated the UH-1 for retirement from flying duties at the end of Fiscal 2012, and as that date approaches various bases are bidding farewell to the aircraft that proved so sigificant in the Vietnam war.  In Germany, a ceremony last Wednesday involved four aircraft flying from Hohenfels to Ramstein, where they will be decommissioned.

The Army gradually replaces these venerable aircraft with new UH-72A Lakotas
