Uncommanded yaw to the left in cruise, pilot initiated autorotation. A complete power loss was experienced, pilot continued the autorotation. Unable to reach the landing area selected and completed the flare short of the area. Lnded hard in shallow water, substantially damaging tail boom and tail rotor.
