The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) want to say a huge thank you to all their supporters who have helped them raise a massive £1million through their recycling scheme over the last 5 years.
The life-saving Charity has been operating their successful recycling campaign since 2005, which is managed by their recycling partners Bag It Up Ltd.
Katie Collinson from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance comments “We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our supporters who have recycled with us over the last 5 years – they have helped us to reach this huge landmark for income from recycling. We do however, need people to continue to support the scheme and help us save many more lives across Yorkshire.â€
Each year, the YAA receives approximately £200,000 from funds raised from recycling unwanted clothing, shoes and household textiles.
Katie explains: “Sustainable income is vital to a modern charity, and recycling as an income stream helps and affects so many people, whilst fulfilling social responsibilities. Our successful ongoing relationship with Bag It Up over the years has helped us raise a fantastic £1million, and this income helps to saves lives across the region. We are encouraging people to keep donating their unwanted textiles, clothing and shoes to help us raise even more money for the YAAâ€
There are now over 200 clothing banks at various recycling sites across the county, where anyone can take their donations after clearing out their wardrobes and linen cupboards.

The YAA recycling scheme is really easy to get involved with and businesses, schools and community organisations have all played their part too with the bra campaign, the Save Old Soles shoe campaign, and many other collection schemes to help raise vital life-saving funds.
Bag It Up Ltd is the official recycling partner for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity.
