HAI President Matt Zuccaro joined the leaders of several other general aviation associations earlier this month in a letter to TSA Administrator John S. Pistole expressing the need for TSA to work with industry to minimize the impact on general aviation businesses due to temporary flight restrictions (TFR) created to support presidential travel.

Zuccaro and the other GA leaders told Pistole that procedures are needed that would address the security needs necessary to protect the President while allowing aviation businesses and operators to continue to operate at near normal levels.

A direct economic impact through loss of revenue for aviation businesses has been felt throughout the GA industry. Helicopter operators in Hawaii and Las Vegas have been hit particularly hard due to the number of presidential TFRs that have been imposed since President Obama took office.
