The Chardham Pilgrimage Tours comprising of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri destinations started with the opening of portals of both Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on May 6, 2011. The holy sites adorn the beautiful destination Uttarakhand.

The Kedarnath place is situated at a height of 3,584 meter in Rudraprayag district whereas Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines are situated at a height of 3,200 meter and 3,615 meter respectively in Uttarkashi district. During winters the holy shrines remain close due to snow-bound areas, thus, reopen in April-May every year after a gap of six months. The Chardham Yatra is reopen now and attracts nearly 15 lakh pilgrims every year both from India and abroad and is considered as the backbone of thriving religious tourism in the state.

He informed that helicopter being used for Chardham yatra is the six-seater AS350B3 Eurocopter that can fly for about three-and-a-half-hours continuously. Prabhatam Group CEO Rakesh Sharma said, “The air service for the four dhams is not a business initiative. It is the group’s commitment to serve the people of the state. This is a social service”.
