Terma is contracted by the Polish Defense for the supply of aircraft survivability equipment for 22 helicopters.

As main supplier, Terma is to deliver electronics, aerostructures, test, and training of 250 Polish Defense employees in the application and maintenance of the equipment.

The entire program comprises delivery of pods containing sensors and flares for exterior installation, the electronic self-protection systems, and project management.

Delivery of equipment from Terma started late in 2010, and installation of the equipment taking place in Poland will be completed before the end of 2012.

“We have secured a major and very exciting assignment. There is no doubt that our experience and expertise within this area have been a decisive factor. For more than 25 years, Terma has supplied this type of equipment for more than two thousand aircraft and helicopters in 16 different countries, including the UK, The Netherlands, the U.S. and now Poland”, says Vice President, Integrated Defense and Security Systems Dan Ulrich and continues: “Several projects have been delivered with a very tight deadline. In recent years, this ability to adjust and produce equipment for new platforms with very short notice has resulted in a number of valuable contracts within this highly specialized area”.

The 22 units comprise seven helicopters of the type Mi-17 and 15 of the type Mi-24. The Mi-17 helicopter was originally developed in the 1970s and approx. 12,000 units have been produced to date. It is primarily applied for transport and search & rescue operations. The Mi-24 was also produced in the 1970s as a combined combat and transport helicopter.
