Papillon Orders five AS350 B3e helicopters – plus three options

Grand Prairie, Texas – American Eurocopter announced today that Papillon Helicopters has placed an order for five AS350 B3e helicopters with options for three more. The aircraft will be used to expand the company’s fleet and will begin a replacement program for some of the company’s older helicopters.

“The AS350 B3e showcases Eurocopter’s commitment to innovation and to bringing these advancements to our customers,” stated Marc Paganini, President and CEO of American Eurocopter. “Papillon Helicopters and the Halvorson family are valued, long-time customers and the selection of the AS350 B3e for their fleet underscores the AStar’s reputation as one of the most sophisticated and versatile helicopters in the world.”

The AS350 B3e is the latest evolution in the AStar product line. The aircraft was launched at Heli-Expo 2011 and introduces further enhancements for cost-effectiveness, safety and performance to the popular platform.

“The AStar provides us with the mix of power, durability and value that allows us to grow our business,” explained Lon Halvorson, Executive Vice President of Papillon Helicopters. “We look forward to implementing the safety, performance and maintenance enhancements of the AS350 B3e’s within our fleet.”

The AS350 B3e is powered by a new Arriel 2D engine and equipped with a new FADEC and Engine Data Recorder (EDR), enhancing performance and system management. The new systems within the AS350 B3e will also produce decreased maintenance times by extending maintenance inspection intervals and time between overhauls.
