The National Transportation Safety Board is offering two investigative courses and one transportation disaster response course over the next two months at its training center just outside Washington, D.C.

The two-day AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION FOR AVIATION PROFESSIONALS course (Oct 26-27) provides participants with an overview of how the Safety Board investigates major aircraft accidents and what it expects of participants in an investigation. Examples from recent investigations will be used to demonstrate particular aspects of the investigative process. See more at http://go.usa.gov/8hG

The two-day COGNITIVE INTERVIEWING FOR ACCIDENT INVESTIGATORS course (Nov. 8-9) provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to conduct interviews of participants in, and witnesses to, transportation incidents or accidents. Interactive discussion, demonstrations and exercises will provide participants with numerous opportunities to gain confidence using the CI method. See more at http://go.usa.gov/8hF

The three-day TRANSPORTATION DISASTER RESPONSE – EMERGENCY RESPONDERS course (Nov. 15-17), designed specifically for emergency responders and planners, provides participants with the tools to most effectively manage a major transportation disaster. Audio/video materials, case studies, recent examples and panel discussions are employed to illustrate key principles of the unique aspects of responding to major transportation disasters.
