Pilots: Are you landing too close?  Do you really have a good idea of the radius of your downwash effect?

With three accidents in the last week attributed to downwash effects, this is a timely opportunity to remind pilots of the effects.  Each of these reports are taken from our Accident report pages

17-Oct-11 Agusta-Bell AB212 Jagodina, Serbia

Seven children hurt after hovering helicopter caused billboards to be blown over the crowds at a stadium.  Helicopter was demonstrating troops rapelling to the ground

15-Oct-11 Boeing CH-46 Havelock, US-North Carolina

Downdraft during take off from Havelock Chili Festival caused widespread damage and some injuries to people

11-Oct-11 Eurocopter AS350B2 Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Brazil

Law enforcement helicopter in non-emergency situation made urban area landing too close to buildings and downwash caused damage
