MedEvac Foundation International is pleased to release the public education publication Air Medical Services: Critical Component of Modern Healthcare Systems. This is an updated version of Air Medicine: Accessing the Future of Healthcare, an award-winning publication translated into 11 languages.

The intended use is to educate public policy makers, regulatory agencies, healthcare system leaders, and the general public on the critical role air medical services within modern healthcare systems. It explains the fundamentals of air medicine, beginning with its history, co-evolution with new systems of regionalized care, and continuing through current practices that save lives and reduce disability every day. The publication portrays how air medical services have become a critical component in time-dependent medical situations providing speed, access, and quality of patient care – which translated into saving and improving lives, while optimizing overall healthcare system costs.

“Our original publication has been used by air medical transport leaders and public policy makers from around the globe to further the development of air medical services. This new publication’s inclusion of peer reviewed research demonstrating the effectiveness of air medical services in the specific missions that support modern regionalized healthcare systems will make this publication even more useful in supporting the goal of the original publication,” said MedEvac Foundation Board Chair Kevin Hutton, MD, FACEP.

Copies of Air Medical Services: Critical Component of Modern Healthcare Systems will be mailed to all members of the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS).
