Cherokee Nation Industries, the manufacturing and distribution division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, is being recognized by Bell Helicopter as being in the top 10 percent of the company’s suppliers. The prestigious Bell Premier Supplier Award was presented at CNI’s facility in downtown Stilwell, followed by a luncheon honoring CNI employees for their success.

“CNI laid the framework for the Cherokee Nation’s economic success more than 40 years ago,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “Not only have these employees helped Cherokee Nation become the economic force it is today, they’ve also helped support our men and women serving both domestically and abroad in our U.S. military. We couldn’t be more proud of the important work that they do.”

The award recognizes CNI for its superior business processes and world class quality standards. In order to qualify for Premier status a supplier must meet numerous standards that include being AS9100 certified, delivering high-quality materials on a 98 percent frequency rate or higher and score very high on a cross-functional inspection conducted on-site by a specialized Bell team.

“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our employees, as well as our strong relationship with industry leaders like Bell,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Businesses. “As our companies continue to grow and develop new capacity and expertise, we look forward to exceeding even our own expectations.”

CNI manufactures wiring harnesses for Bell Helicopter’s V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft and the H1 program. CNI scored 99.3 percent for on-time delivery, 99.06 percent in quality and boasted an overall rating of 98 percent.

“Our team works hard at every level to ensure our work remains of the highest quality and our reputation for excellence remains unmatched by our competitors,” said Chris Moody, president of Cherokee Nation Industries.

Cherokee Nation Industries was established in 1969 in Stilwell, Okla. as the tribe’s first business venture. Its purpose both then and now is to create economic opportunities for the Cherokee Nation and its citizens. The company has offices in Stilwell, Tahlequah, Kellyville, Pryor and Tulsa.
