Helicopter Foundation International proudly hosted its third annual Scholarship Fundraising Golf Tournament on Friday, February 10th.  Wonderful prizes were given out, great food and beverages were enjoyed and participating golfers partnered to support HFI’s Scholarship program.
The day began under threat of rain and cloudy skies but hours before the event the clouds parted and blue skies and sunshine broke out abundantly. Registration opened and the players eagerly made their way toward the driving range and practice putting green in order to be in top form when the tournament got underway.  After having a buffet lunch, the participants were ready for their 12:00 noon shotgun start.  The Cowboys Golf Club is the only NFL themed venue in the world, and it provided a perfect background for the tournament and a kick-off to HELI-EXPO 2012, which took place February 11-14 in Dallas.
Though the day started out rather chilly and windy, by the afternoon temperatures reached the 60s..   Prizes were awarded to the four lowest scoring groups.  In addition prizes were awarded for accurate drive, long drive for Men and Women, closest to the pin on all of the par threes for both men and women and there was a putting contest. The winning foursome consisted of Fredrick Kong, Production Resource Group, LLC; Jackie Dickson, Airport Courier, LLC; Joel Baudon, Heli Dax SAS; Paul Bradtmueller, Seyer Industries. Twenty-nine sponsors and six companies donated items that were given away in a drawing.
Vice President and Curator of Helicopter Foundation International Marty Pociask commented that “This is a great opportunity for members of our industry to share their success by donating to a worthy cause.  It is a great way to give back to the international helicopter community and to help deserving students to attain their dream of becoming a helicopter pilot or maintenance technician. I’m very grateful for all the players and companies who got involved this year; thank you for making this event so successful.â€Pociask added “Once again Art Ashton, HAI’s Special Advisor and golf devotee planned and directed this year’s event.â€
After the tournament, the players were treated to a barbeque dinnerand listened intently as the winners of the various contests were announcedand the many sponsors who made the event possible were acknowledged.
