The world’s leading helicopter-services operator has selected an executive of one of the energy industry’s largest product and service providers to join the aviation company’s board of directors.

CHC Helicopter said that Dr. Jonathan Lewis, senior vice president of Halliburton’s Europe Sub-Saharan Africa Region, formally begins his duties with the CHC board at the group’s regular meeting in Florida this week.

“Dr. Lewis brings valuable perspectives to our board as it oversees and guides the transformation of CHC,” said Mark McComiskey, CHC’s board chairman. “He has deep experience in the exploration and production side of the oil-and-gas industry, by far our biggest customer segment, and in places and processes that are extremely important to our company.”

Dr. Lewis previously headed Halliburton’s Drilling and Evaluation Division and, prior to that, the Wireline and Perforating product service line. He joined the company’s Landmark Graphics in 1996 as vice president of Geology and Reservoir Engineering, and has held senior management positions in technology development, marketing, corporate strategy, business development and sales operations.

With the appointment of Dr. Lewis, the CHC board now numbers five members: Mr. McComiskey and Kenneth Moore, managing directors of First Reserve Corporation, CHC’s private equity owner; Dod Wales, director, First Reserve; and William Amelio, CHC’s president and chief executive officer.

CHC Helicopter provides skilled, secure transportation to offshore oil and gas platforms and other sea-based installations, civilian search-and-rescue services, and helicopter maintenance repair and overhaul. The company is headquartered in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and operates more than 250 aircraft in about 30 countries around the world.
