FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee Seeks Industry Input

FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee Seeks Industry Input

6-Sep-2012 Source: HAI

Scattered around the U.S. are nine FAA regions, 10 Aircraft Certification Offices, and more than 80 Flight Standards District Offices. That these are not always on the same page when it comes to the application or interpretation of regulations comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with the aviation industry. Recently, however, the U.S, Congress told the FAA to do something about it.

When Congress passed the FAA Reauthorization bill earlier this year, it included a provision (Section 313) which mandated that the FAA establish an advisory panel comprised of government and industry representatives to develop recommendations to improve the consistency in regulatory application, particularly with regard to the certification and approval processes. As a result, the Consistency of Regulatory Interpretation Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) was established.

This ARC is now asking for industry input. HAI members, now is your time to be heard.

Through an online survey, the ARC is looking for aviation industry input on the consistency of regulatory application with regard to the certification and approval process. As individuals and organizations involved in the day-to-day of the aviation industry, your input is invaluable and necessary to ensure a favorable outcome. Please take a moment to complete the survey, prior to the Sept. 25 deadline.

The ARC will also host a webinar at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 7 when they will provide details of its progress and will present preliminary results of the industry stakeholder survey. To register, click here.
