China’s Quinghai Province takes delivery of two VIP AW139s

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that two AW139 intermediated twin helicopters in VIP transport configuration have been delivered to a customer in China’s Quinghai Province.

One of the two helicopters is fitted with a unique mixed VIP-utility configuration including a FLIR camera and rescue hoist. This aircraft will be operated in Gulmud, Qinghai province, Western China, which is at an elevation of 2,800 m (9,200 ft). The second AW139 will be operated in Chengdu, Sichuan province, Southwest China.

This delivery continues the growing success and presence of the multirole AW139 in China where the type has been chosen by various operators to perform law enforcement, rescue, disaster relief, civil protection, fire fighting and passenger transport missions. AgustaWestland’s has achieved growing success in China’s commercial helicopter market in recent years with orders now totalling over 40 units of various types for a number of applications including law enforcement, disaster relief, fire fighting, harbour pilot shuttle, water pollution monitoring, VIP, utility and passenger transport.

State-of-the-art technology, outstanding performance, low operating costs and the only helicopter in its class to meet the latest safety standards, have made the AW139 the helicopter of choice in the intermediate twin market. Almost 660 AW139s have been sold in more than 50 countries to almost 180 customers so far for many roles also including VIP/corporate transport, passenger transport, law enforcement, fire fighting, offshore transport, search and rescue, emergency medical service, disaster relief and maritime patrol.
