The Norwegian company Lufttransport has been awarded the new Search and Rescue (SAR) / Transport contract for Sysselmannen on Svalbard Island in the northernmost part of Norway. The contract will be effective from 1 April 2014, and the new operator will be replacing Airlift that has been on the island since 1 April 1996 (with a renewal in 2004). The presence of helicopters in the area will be strengthened by placing two AS 332 Super Pumas on the island instead of one Super Puma and one Dauphin.
