Bell civil helicopter sales up 50% in 2012

Bell is waiting until Heli-Expo at the start of March to release detailed figures on its 2012 production, but HeliHub.com can reveal that the output from its civil helicopter lines was up just over 50%, rising from 125 helicopters in 2011 to 188 in 2012.  These high-level figures have been put together from press releases issues by parent company Textron.

No analysis is currently available model-by-model, but we expect the majority of the increase comes from the new Bell 407GX model and the ramping up of the Bell 429 production rate.  Other lines including the 206L4 and 412 are likely to have been quite flat in comparison.

Military production was up marginally, moving up to 39 from 34 V-22s, and down slightly from 25 to 24 H-1s.

Here are the actual numbers

Q1 – 30 commercial, 10 V-22,  7 H-1
