India AW101 – CBI registers case against 6 companies and 13 individuals

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case U/s 120-B r/w 420 IPC and Section 7, 8, 9, 12 & 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 against the then Chief of Air Staff; four private persons; a Chandigarh-based private company & its then CEO; a

-based private company, its then Chairman & then MD; Italy-based private company & its then CEO; a UK-based Company & its then CEO; three foreign Nationals who allegedly acted as middlemen; a Mauritius-based private company; a Tunisia-based company and other unknown persons on the allegations of alleged irregularities in the procurement of 12 AW-101 VVIP/VIP Helicopters from UK-based private company.

It is further alleged that in the procurement process of the Helicopters, some persons acted as middlemen and have allegedly influenced the deal in favour of U.K based company. It is also alleged that Italy based company paid commission in terms of several millions of Euros to the middle men. The middlemen from their share of commission allegedly paid huge sums of money to some Indian Nationals in the garb of engineering contracts with two India based companies.
