Serco has been awarded a contract extension by AgustaWestland Ltd to assist them in maintaining the fleet of Sea King aircraft for the Ministry of Defence under their Integrated Operational Support Contract.  The extension, which will run from April 2013 until December 2015, is worth over £7m for the two and a half year period and sees the Royal Navy Air Station Yeovilton based operation continue its maintenance of the Sea King aircraft.

The Sea King fleet comprises aircraft which are used for various purposes including search and rescue services, troop carrying and logistics support.

As part of the contract, the Serco team at Yeovilton will continue to service various components of the aircraft ensuring they are fit for use and will also continue providing the aircraft with a detailed maintenance work package that involves stripping the aircraft, inspecting and servicing before rebuilding and testing prior to returning back to the active service fleet.
