Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company, has been selected by Boeing Defense, Space & Security to supply its SRT-200 High-Frequency radio communication systems to the V-22 Osprey Program. This is the result of a challenging competition between the key worldwide players in the field, a further evidence that Selex ES know-how and portfolio leadership is unchallenged in the HF communications sector.

The SRT-200 system is the latest lightweight and compact outcome of a Research & Development activity carried out by the company within the high-frequency sector. It provides voice/data radio communications for avionic applications with ALE2 technology. This is a complete system, with a lightweight ATU (Antenna Tuning Unit) and antenna system customized for the V-22 that will ensure effective communications over the whole HF range.

Selex ES has been in the radio communications business for over 110 years. It is the offshoot of the company created by Guglielmo Marconi who, in the very early 1900’s, carried out the first transatlantic radio communication. Selex ES has a long experience in the field of avionic HF systems, having sold its first airborne HF radio of the “modern era” in the ‘60s.

The company boasts a deep knowledge of the avionic sector and its customers’ operational needs, thanks to more than 50 years cooperation with the main worldwide aircraft manufacturers. Selex ES develops and builds advanced avionic sensors and CNI (Communication, Navigation and Identification) systems, complying with the highest market standards.
