Raynesway Construction, the Paisley-based Balfour Beatty brand, has recently been awarded new work worth in excess of £5 million, highlighting the robust nature of the Scottish construction industry.

Stephen Scott, Managing Director of Raynesway Construction, said:

“The past few months have seen an encouraging number of interesting contract awards for us. Given the continuing economic climate, we are delighted to secure these projects from a diverse range of customers. I believe our scale and adaptability are significant contributory factors in our continued success.

“We have also been reappointed to frameworks for both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. We work hard to establish enduring relationships with our customers and this, combined with our reliability, is fundamental to our continued associations with these businesses.”

The new contracts include two retail projects, one to facilitate a new Morrison’s in Kirkcaldy, the other for a new B&Q store at Port Glasgow. A third contract is for the relocation of the heliport from the SECC in Glasgow.

The contract for Scottish Exhibition Centre Limited, worth approximately £2.5 million, is to design and construct a new heliport facility in Govan. The project includes the helipad itself and all the associated access roads, car parking, external works and services, together with a workshop and office facilities.

In Kirkcaldy, Raynesway Construction will construct and configure the external road works for a new Morrison’s store at Kinghorn Road. The contract has been awarded by the main contractor, Muir Construction, and is worth £0.8 million. This is the first time Raynesway Construction has been appointed as a subcontractor by Muir Construction. The works include the removal of two existing roundabouts in Esplanade Road and their replacement with a new double junction with traffic signals.

The Port Glasgow job is for BAM Construction Limited. Raynesway Construction has a strong record of subcontract work for this main contractor and this project further develops the relationship between the two firms. This £1.9 million contract, for the groundworks for a new B&Q store, will include the construction of a new car park and modifications to existing roads at the site, as well as culverting and diverting the Devol Burn.

At Edinburgh Airport, Raynesway Construction has picked up repeat business through its reappointment to the civils maintenance framework and has also been newly appointed to the landscaping and grounds maintenance contract.

Raynesway Construction is already involved in an on-going maintenance framework at Glasgow Airport and additional work has come from the company’s appointment to a new local projects framework. This will give Raynesway Construction the opportunity to tender for all proposed civil engineering works to be carried out at Glasgow Airport.
